The Sweat Series: a “reformed” take on pilates

Our group fitness programming isn’t capital-P “Pilates” and it’s not downloaded directly from Lagree Fitness headquarters either. It’s a unique blend of the two mixed with some other best practices from functional exercise. We’ve built our training philosophies to deliver the best possible workouts that will complement your current fitness choices or provide a complete programming approach to improving your physical fitness. Your Home for All Things Wellness

We aim to become Asheville’s home for all things wellness. Our studio is headquarters to a growing Wellness Collective that provides complementary health, wellness, and beauty services for the SSP community. If you’re a provider in the space, we’d love the chance to get to know you.

  • We think Lagree Fitness has had the best innovations in the pilates space. Their machines are exceptionally well built and extremely practical. They were the obvious choice for us as tools to support our training philosophy. When it comes to our training philosophy, it's our belief that at the end of the day our style rolls into the umbrella of pilates so we used that in our name. That said, we also have classical Pilates equipment and offer private training on Plates Reformers.

  • The MiniFormerPro is one of the newest and (in our opinion) the best group-fitness machines in the Lagree Fitness line. We have ten of them in our studio. The word “Reformer” is technically trademarked by Pilates so Lagree Fitness needs to create unique names for their machines. The Megaformer is exactly that. It’s huge. With about 10 years of feedback and multiple other machines in the market, Lagree Fitness launched the MiniFormer Pro in 2022. It’s sleek, and streamlined, and holds 17 more patents than previous designs. It’s billed as a light commercial product but when fully kitted out, like ours are, with handles, elevated base, and front and back platforms, the MiniFormer Pro becomes the finest reformer-like machine on the market. Come try it out!

  • We think fitness is an essential part of wellness but it’s not the entire equation. Our BHAG (big scary audacious goal) is to become the center of the health, beauty, and wellness community in Asheville! In the meantime, we’re using about half of our space to support complementary businesses who are focused on the non-fitness part of wellness. We have space for health and beauty professionals to work out of the ATW (All Things Wellness) side of our 4600 sq.ft. facility. We have big plans for how to build out and deliver community programming and professional support for complementary providers. Time will tell for what exactly ATW becomes but we’re excited to support the community however we can!

  • We like to say our style of training is both “Complementary and Complete”. You’re going to love the deep burn of the long, slow movements in our classes. Your knees and back will love the low-impact nature of the movements at our studio. You’ll find that this practice is a form of moving meditation that requires a deep focus—that gets you sweating and leaves feeling the burn long after sessions. If you’ve been in search of a movement practice that works for you, our training can be a full-body, complete program. But, no matter what you’re currently doing, there’s room to add us into your mix and see benefits from the lengthening, strengthening, and development of new mind-muscle connections!

  • We take pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all bodies. Our workouts will create muscular discomfort and likely leave you feeling sore long after class ends. Please know that there is a difference between discomfort/fatigue and pain. Our instructors will always work with you to find movement patterns that are safe and avoid pain. If you have any questions about your ability to perform the movements in class. Please reach out to us at info@southslopepilates.com.

  • Want to commemorate a special event (birthdays, bachelorettes, bat mitzvahs, etc)? We’re here to help make wellness a cornerstone of the celebration. Contact info@southslopepilates.com for booking support!
